2 Journals in 2 weeks, what is the world coming to!
I'll start from the top, and shout my immense thanks for my first ever Daily Deviation I never expected in the 1 week that the Chibi Maker was up that it would gain so much love and interest from the DA community. So my special thanks, it has motivated me to keep on Flash'un! (The Adobe kind, not the pants kind)
Secondly to LorrianneRose whom I don't think I've met, thank you so much for the subscription!
Last but not least, the Chibi Maker has it's first update. Version 1.1 has lots of changes and items added, and probably the most exciting thing I would say is the random button. You have no idea how many minutes I can click that thing and be surprised by what appears. Here's a full list of what's been happening -
Chibi Maker 1.1 New Features - Added a Random button to randomise a Chibi from scratch - Chibi will now start on a preset male or female face
Hair - Added 45 more hair styles - Replaced a couple of old hair styles - Added an eyebrow tab to hair, with 15 new eyebrows
Eyes - Added the ability to change both eye colours independently - Added 5 new eyes
Accessories - Added 5 new head accessories - Added 5 new hand accessories
Body - Separated expressions from eyebrows. Added 3 new expressions
As you can see, some things have changed, lots has been added. Thank you to everyone who has left comments or ideas, I've tried to fit a lot of them in but unfortunately it's impossible to add everything! But they may make it into a future update so keep 'em coming. For now please continue to enjoy!
As a quick aside, after a bit of thinking I've started a poll to see if there would be any interest in perhaps developing the Chibi Maker (and possible future games) into an App? If you have time please vote or leave a comment on the poll, it will help me decide if there's enough interest to go ahead with it (Or procrastinate on it a bit more as I often do!)
I think you should add the option for custom skin tones for the animal ones. Like if someone wants to have a a skin that resembles a grey tabby or a an orange tabby, or something similar to that. Also, maybe add an option for fur, so people can make furries. those are my suggestions, but it's great so far too!
Hi, as I wrote down in another comment I want to buy Chibi Maker for my publishing house in Poland - please read my note from a week ago. This is serious offer. If You've deleted my note etc. Please write to me asap.
To others - if You know GEN8 personally, let her now that I wait with opportunity for Her.
Hi, sorry I missed your note! I've had a few like it and sometimes they are not always legitimate. Thank you for your offer, unfortunately I may possibly have plans to publish the Chibi Maker by other means (possibly self-publish if I can!). It's also still undergoing revision and fixing so it's not quite a complete product yet. Thank you as I say though, I am flattered there is interest in it
Thx for the reply. I understand and I would love to see Chibi Maker published by You. Anyway, maybe please consider selling us Your set of faces, clothes etc that You used in Chibi Maker with allowance to use it by my company on territory of Poland. No use in iOs, Android - only on our websites as avatar maker etc. We will do all the necessary coding. I have my designers such as , or but puting them on such project would take a lot of time and we would love to include such functionality for our users within max. 2 months. And we could arange it so it wont be a threat to anything You are planing to do with Chibi Maker. If You don't want to do anything like this right now I understand and we will do all designing on our own.
Besides that, as a flash-coder I'd recommend You to protect Your swf while exporting them from flash. Right now, anyone can download it, and import it to Flash and get all set of Your work (hair, clothes etc) and use them as they want.
Well, since you still want ideas, here is something to consider for your future, current, or revisited flash games:
A Lock/Unlock Into Position button. While it is good to have layers automatically appear in their suggested default position once they are selected, some might want to experiment and move layers around, and a toggle button would really help. This can be a hard feature to incorporate. Some will want the option to lock and unlock individual layers into position, and not just in the default position but the position they have chosen. It would be detrimental if the toggle button suddenly readjusts ALL of the layers to snap back into their default places after someone went to the hard work to reposition a few of those layers. EXAMPLE: In your Chibi Maker, some might want to unlock things like Eye Brows, Hair, etc. so they can click and drag them manually into a position of their choosing, if they aren't satisfied with the default position.
A Layering list/buttons. Some layers tend to lay over top each other, and some people want to control the flow of the layers. I suggest either having an adjustable layer list or a pair of buttons; a Down Button to bring one layer closer to the background and an Up Button to bring a layer closer to the foreground. EXAMPLE: In your Furry Dollmakers, the dolls can be outfitted with various layers of clothes, but it might be fun to mess with the layer. Some would love to be able to layer under garments over clothes just for fun or silliness, others might want to give shirts a tucked-in look rather than have them cover the waist line of pants and dresses, some might want headbands to appear under the hair/bangs instead of over, etc.
A Rotate option. This may be one of the more ambitious suggestions, so feel free to dismiss it. However, some people may want to rotate certain layers to a different angle. This especially goes for accessories that you can dress a doll up with. However, a button like this might not always work for every doll maker or layer in question. EXAMPLE: In your Furry Dollmakers, some might want to be able to rotate and change the angle of things like the Hair, Bangs, certain kinds of Accessories, etc.; whether that means rotating them Clockwise or Counter Clockwise.
I really like your Chibi Doll Maker, and I would love to see you use it as a starting template for all your flash games, I am just trying to make suggestions that will take it to the next step. I also hope my suggestions made sense. ^u^
